Welcome to Main Line Youth Alliance

The Main Line Youth Alliance (MYA) provides gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning and straight youth with social, educational and supportive activities in a confidential, respectful and safe environment. Main Line Youth Alliance programs, unique in Philadelphia's western suburbs, encourage healthy relationships with peers, family and community.

MYA meets every Friday all year long in Wayne, Pennsylvania.  Our doors are open to all youth ages 14-22.

MYA exists for youth!  Our programs, activities, and special events are planned with youth input and our most successful events have come from youth suggestions and input.  Friday night meetings are a mix of open discussions and presentations, where a casual atmosphere allows for talking, playing games, discussing issues and lots of food and fun!

Some of the most popular events so far this year have been:  MYA Winter Holiday Dance, Valentine’s Day Dance, the annual Networking Social Event for area Gay and Straight Alliances in High Schools and MYA Prom 2001.  Discussion topics have included Current Events, Relationships, Dating, Homophobia and Heterosexism, Coming Out Issues, Gender Identity, School Issues, Harassment, TV and Gay Issues in the Media.

In 2000 MYA served almost 200 youth from the Philadelphia region.   MYA draws youth from area public schools, private schools, colleges and universities.  Some of them are Radnor High School, Lower Merion High School, Great Valley High School, Villanova University, Penn State University, Henderson High School, Owen J. Roberts High School, Haverford High School, the Haverford School, Marple-Newtown High School, Springfield Area High School, Eastern College, Germantown Friends School, Methacton High School, Downingtown High School, and Conestoga High School. The list you see here IS NOT a list of supporting schools, but represents educational institutions that MYA youth attend. Please understand that by listing their names here MYA is not necessarily showing their support. MYA intends only to show the diverse nature of its youth. /
