MYA provides a safe and healthy environment for their glbtq youth. MYA meets each Friday evening from 7-9:30 pm. There is no charge for admission and like any group, where teens gather, snacks are served! From time to time, we welcome parents to join in for an activity of fundraising or discussion – and those will be posted on our calendar in advance.
MYA opened its doors to youth in 1998, after being founded by two local educators – Janice Pinto and Linda Ardao. Both teachers at area high schools, they worked with those in the community to create a group specific to glbtq youth and their allies. Youth, ages 14-22 years of age, are welcome at MYA.
The community and leaders of Central Baptist Church in Wayne stepped forward to offer space to the group. Though not affiliated with this or any other organization, CBC continues to donate space and support to MYA, it’s mission and its youth. The organization is grateful for the love and support shown by all at CBC over these many years.
